ArmorQuest is one of the best Christian comics out there. The art is reminiscent of Walt Simonson with a little Mike Mignola influence. The artist is a graphic designer by trade, but has done other comics as well for Community Comics, and he worked with Mr. Scott on a series of Christian posters as well.. It's not set strictly in the medieval period of our Earth, but a time similar to that with some slightly futuristic touches (rocket boots, anti-grav sleds) that add to the story without overpowering it. The writer Ben Avery has done stuff for larger, non-specifically-Christian companies (Lullaby, Hedge Knight), and really has a way with sneaking scriptural elements into a story without being heavy handed. He's also writing one or two of the new Zondervan GNs.
The core of the series is the Armor of God, and a regular person's quest to acquire it. Lots of biblical quotes snuck in there, and some spot-on depictions of wordly mindsets. Great for kids as well (my 5-year-old boy has been enjoying it for over a year, and I just started reading it to my 3-year-old girl) but I enjoy it as well, probably more because I can see all the subtle biblical stuff that they miss, but hey, they're just learning this stuff, and I'm an old geezer! If you like fantasy, it won't matter what age you are.
Archangel, I followed the Archangels series, and would love a chance to interview Patrick Scott or any of the primary creators. There are a lot of fans out there who would love to get a full version of how that labor of love came together finally. And is Cahaba still publishing? I saw a lot of potential series listed over there (various other ARCHANGELS projects, THORNWOOD, EDEN: THE LOST GARDEN (or EDEN 1944), LIFEWAVE) but nothing actually published since ARCHANGELS: THE FALL. If you have any updated info, please share it.
